I. The Studies on the Integration of Chinese Culture into the World Mainstream Culture

An in-depth study of the integration of the Chinese culture into the world mainstream culture will be undertaken and historical figures who played pivotal roles in the process will be systematically investigated. The first volume of the project will include:

1. Voltaire and Chinese culture;

2. Jung and Chinese culture;

3. Babbitt and Chinese culture;

4. Leibniz and Chinese culture.

II. Case Studies of Chinese-western Cultural Communications

A galaxy of Chinese scholars has made enduring contribution to Chinese-western cultural communications. From the viewpoint of scholarship history, CCS will organize comprehensive and detailed case studies of their lives, ambitions, professions, and academic achievements of cross-cultural studies. Wang Guowei, Qian Zhongshu, Zhu Guangqian, Zong Baihua, Wen Yiduo, Feng Zhi, Chen Quan, Lin Yutang, Wu Mi, Xu Zhimo, Liu Ruoyu, Liang Shiqiu, Liang Zongdai, Mu Dan, Bian Zhilin and Fu Lei will comprise the first volume.

III. Collection Proches Lointain

Published bilingually in both Chinese and French, the series plans to compose twenty books. Each book, dealing with one theme, is the collaboration of a Chinese author and a French author who write from their own experiences with simplicity and cultural individuality.

Nine books, including L’Architecture, La Beauté, Le Gouǔt, La Mort, La Nature, La Nuit, Le Rêve, La Sagesse, Le Voyage, have been published. More books will be forthcoming soon.

IV. Keywords Studies

This is an international research project undertaken jointly by scholars from Africa, Asia and Europe. Chinese scholars have finished their studies on such key words as “Nature”, “Experience”, “Truth”, “Benevolence”, “Beauty”, “Identity”, “Gender” all of which have been translated into English. New studies of keyword are under consideration.

Published periodically in both Chinese (12 issues) and French (2 issues), Cross-cultural Dialogues is a well-established forum for a community of international intellectuals who have intense interest in intercultural conversations. Set columns include “Round Table”, “Oversees Special”, “Cultural Perspective”, “Science and Humanities”, “Cutting-edge Confrontations”, “Anatomy of Chinese Culture”, “East-west Talks”, “Cultural Essays”, “Book Reviews” and so on.
